About Amanda
I'm a board certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) who is passionate about WHOLE body wellness-mind, body, & spirit! I’ve been a PMHNP since 2018 and before that I was an ICU nurse & travel nurse for eight years! This was when I learned about the power of the body/mind/spirit’s suffering, resiliency, and ability to overcome.
Over my years as an ICU nurse, I naturally put people at ease just by taking the time to listen to them and conveying that I genuinely cared about them. Eventually, this spread to other areas of life. Strangers would tell me their life story while waiting at a crosswalk together, over their yoga mat at the gym, or while picking out a salad dressing at the grocery store. I felt that people were somehow drawn to me and felt safe to share personal things with me quickly. I knew this was a gift that must not be wasted. I had always been passionate about mental health and the power of the mind, so I decided that psychiatry was my calling! I returned to school for my master’s degree to become a PMHNP, and here I am today!
In my free time, I enjoy working out, gardening, reading, volunteering as a NICU baby cuddler, cooking, playing with my fur babies Marly & Lily, soaking up the sun on Lake Travis, traveling with my husband Beau, and generally practicing a good work-life balance that I can model for my patients. I go to church and consider myself a Christian—it's a meaningful part of who I am.
